We received two inquiries from customers in Denmark and South Korea yesterday which made me think I should post a blog about our policies.
All of the prices on our web site do not include shipping. Out of the country shipping requires that the customer has to pay Duty fees which vary from country to country so there is no way for us to figure that into the purchase price. We will arrange shipping to a designated port city and the customer must arrange shipping from there.
When shipping overseas, we have to build a fully enclosed crate which adds to your cost of the engine.
Unless a customer is personally traveling with the engine or carrying across a border, such as into Canada, you will have to secure a company to handle the paperwork at the border for you. It can get complicated which is why we do not do it for you.
One other thing to consider is the core charge. When a core is shipped back into the United States, the U.S. Government collects Duty on it, the same way that other countries do when we ship an engine out. When you combine the cost of shipping and the Duty, it is never worth it to send the core engine backto us so you have to figure the core charge into your overall purchase price.
Asheville Engine will handle everything having to do with shipping your Ford Powerstroke re-manufactured engine within the United States but when shipping outside of the U.S., it is your responsibility to handle the shipping for your diesel engine. We have freight brokers that we work with who we can refer you to so that you can take advantage of our discounted shipping rates.
